Putting together my top ten books has been an extremely hard task. But I have finally got it down to the books below! In no particular order, these are the books I have most enjoyed reading this year.
The Keeper of Lost Things
The Keeper of Lost Things is a beautiful book, it’s emotional, charming, heartwarming and nostalgic and leaves you with a feeling that anything is possible. As soon as you reach the end, you’ll want to start it all over again.
Beyond the Wild River
Beyond the Wild River is one of the most atmospheric books I have had the pleasure of reading. The characters are interesting, well developed and you want to invest your time in them. Evelyn is a determined and feisty heroine, James is a charming and endearing hero who you’ll fall in love with. I didn’t want to leave them behind.
The Roanoke Girls
Completely messed up but equally addictive! I hope Amy Engel writes more, she’s brilliant! I was also quoted (for the first time) on the cover of the paperback version of this book. A 2017 highlight! Thanks so much Emily Kitchin.
A Thousand Paper Birds
A lovely, lovely book, filled with some of the most beautiful sentences I’ve ever read. Tor Udall has become one of my favourite authors.
The Travelling Cat Chronicles
The Travelling Cat Chronicles is why I read books. This beautiful story has everything. It’s funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking and kind.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
A wonderful, heartbreaking, funny, heartwarming book. Everyone needs Eleanor Oliphant in their life. One of my favourite ever books.
The Kite Runner
A beautiful, heartbreaking book. A must read for all! It will stay with me forever. I went on to read Khaled Hosseini’s other books and I hope he writes more in the future.
The Dry
I was planning on having an early night and then I started reading The Dry. Needless to say that didn’t happen! A brilliant debut. My copy has now been read by four friends, who all loved it! I can’t wait for book two.
Tin Man
My heart ached after I finished reading this beautiful book and I think yours will too.
The House of Birds
This book is filled with love, hate, war, marriage, family feuds and heartbreak. It is beautifully written and so intricately described. And it has one of the most beautiful covers.
